National Shooting Sports Championships

The National Match is in Grand Island, Nebraska --> June 20 - June 25, 2027.

The selection process is based on individual aggregate placing at state matches, 4-H age eligibility and also includes an application. Regardless of their scores, the application allows a youth to be eligible for team selection.

Application Deadlines:

Fall disciplines --> Saturday October 24, 2026
Spring disciplines (AP & AR) --> TBD (after the match)

Late registrations will not be accepted.

Youth must be enrolled and approved in 4-H Online for the 4-H year in 2026-27 4-H year in the discipline they plan to participate in to be eligible to be selected.

National Western Heritage Conference

The 4-H Western Heritage Project combines a comprehensive study of the Old West with the fastest growing shooting sports discipline in the world - western action shooting. The purpose of this project is to provide an avenue for 4-H members and adult leaders to experience the lifestyles and cultures of the Old West from the period of around 1860-1900 through a living history approach to learning while instilling the concepts of gun safety and personal responsibility. Members dress in Old West clothing, shoot replica firearms of the frontier period, and expand their knowledge of U.S. History.
